My Sessions

What to expect at my first session?

At the start of the session we will go through the initial paperwork, this includes your contact and card details. We will then discuss and sign the consent and confidentially form.

We will continue the session discussing the concerns that brought you to seek support. We will discuss relevant background history such as your childhood, school/work life and relationships, involvement in past mental health support and current coping strategies. Once this information is gathered we will develop some goals for therapy and time permitting begin discussing basic coping strategies and some activities to try until the next session.

Do I need a referral to see a psychologist?

No, a referral is not required to see a psychologist unless you want a rebated session.

What should I bring to my session?

If you have a referral and Mental health treatment plan they will need to be brought to the first session along with your Medicare card details. You will need to bring payment information (e.g. credit/debit card details) and your emergency contact details. You can bring a support person if that makes you feel more comfortable.

How long is a session?

Sessions typically last 50 minutes.

Do you do couples counselling?

No, unfortunately we do not currently have the capacity to offer couples counselling at this time.
